About Children of Nepal

Children of Nepal is a small charitable organisation that has the aim of improving the opportunities available to children living in Nepal, one of the poorest countries in the world.

Children of Nepal seeks to do this by;-

  • improving living standards, particularly the supply of clean drinking water
  • increasing educational resources
  • providing opportunities for education to more children in Nepal

Despite being one of the poorest countries in the world, Nepal is one that is visited by large numbers of tourists every year. This is largely due to it having, within its boundaries, Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain. The income from tourism however, is not sufficient to fund the vast amount of development that is required to improve living standards and reach the educational opportunities enjoyed by children in developed nations.

Nepal has large-scale aid projects taking place alongside small-scale projects and activities. Some are funded by the government of Nepal and some by other countries.Children of Nepal aims to make a direct impact on the people in Nepal with whom it works. Our activities aim to be sustainable to ensure the changes we support are long lasting, not short term.

Since 1997, Children of Nepal has initiated, funded and supervised various projects in the Gaidakot region. We have provided sanitation or clean drinking water in schools in Gaidakot, Hardi and Shree Bhagyodaya and built or upgraded classrooms in schools in Bijaya, Mahendra and Panchakanya.

Children of Nepal is based in the United Kingdom where we raise funds through a variety of local activities:- jumble sales, sponsored cycle rides, talks in schools and other cultural events.
We also receive generous assistance from individual donations, from around Europe and the world.
